Following the merger of the former Technikon of the Freestate and Vista University’s Welkom Campus in 1981, the Central University of Technology emerged in Bloemfontein with regional centres in Welkom and Kimberly.
CUT has enjoyed over 30 years of technological innovation and academic excellence, offering over 50 programmes to a student body of nearly 14 000.
The programmes available at CUT span across the faculties of management sciences; engineering; information and communication technology; health and environmental sciences; and humanities.
Students can utilise CUT’s various state of the art facilities such as libraries, a24-hour computer lab and a wide range of sports facilities.
CUT’s Welkom Campus and Kimberly Regional Learning Centre cater for individuals unable to study full-time at the main campus by offering selected learning programmes.
The Bloemfontein FabLab, a smaller version of a production factor used by students to create prototypes and encourage peer-to-peer learning by making imaginative ideas tangible, is one of CUT’s chief attractions.
The Central University of Technology’s main campus can be found at 20 President Boshof Street, Bloemfontein, 9320.
