The Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) was founded in 1979 and is based in Umlazi, near Durban.
For over 35 years the university has focused on the needs of the community by co-operating closely with commerce and industry and placing this as the central focus of all courses.
The institution hosts three primary faculties: management sciences, engineering and natural sciences.
Situated on the outskirts of Durban, the campus overlooks the Indian Ocean, providing students with a beautiful sea view.
Students can stay active by taking advantage of the various sporting facilities available including soccer, rugby, and baseball fields, tennis and netball courts, and aerobics and bodybuilding amenities. Other recreational options include ballroom dancing, karate and badminton as well as the opportunity to participate in the widely acclaimed choir.
Another popular feature is MUT’s impressive video library, boasting more than 2 300 titles supporting every academic discipline offered at the institution.
MUT is proud to house the Institute for Rural and Community Engagement, a pro bono legal clinic launched in 2014 as a means of uplifting the community by providing free legal advice to those unable to afford legal services.
Mangosuthu University of Technology’s main campus is situated at 511 Mangosuthu Highway, Umlazi, Kwazulu Natal, 4031.
