Founded in 2005 following the merger of two technikons Walter Sisulu University has campuses in East London, Butterworth, Queenstown and Mthatha.
With over 24 000 enrolled students, the institution offers programmes across the faculties of science; engineering and technology; health sciences; business, management sciences and law; and education, while a MBCHB programme is also available at the Mthatha campus.
One of six comprehensive universities in the country, Walter Sisulu University is dedicated to urban renewal and rural development.
Recent improvements to the university include a fire station, new residences, a revamped auditorium and great hall, a health sciences facility, a nurse’s lab, resource centres and arobotics workshop.
The institution also boasts award-winning pedigree choirs.
