Tuks’s Jeremiah Nkwana nabbed the runner-up spot with 315 votes, while NWU’s Kagiso Pitso claimed third with 124.
Mkosi was previously named player of the match in the game against WSU and earned the Samsung Super Striker award against VUT.
He contributed significantly to his team’s overall victory, which he attributed to the team training hard and the support of their fans throughout the tournament.
“I knew what to expect in the tournament, which helped me a lot in terms of my individual performance,” said Mkosi.
“In every match I always gave my best and tested myself.”
Varsity Football operational executive Xhanti-Lomzi Nesi said the tournament had unearthed a few future football stars.
“One of these is Thabo Mnyamane, who became the first Varsity Football player to make the step up to the national team.”
